The villages responds to complaints regarding property maintenance violations. When property maintenance violations are identified, enforcement action is taken. This can include warnings and Notices to Appear in Mayor’s Court.

At the village level we sometimes need help in determining what you as residents want from the village. Currently our code enforcement process is reactive. We respond to complaints. In other communities there are actually code enforcement staff that will patrol a community and act upon what they observe.

The reason for these two different approaches involves the balancing private property rights (it is my property & should not be told what to do) and the right of the community to control the appearance of an area.
