State of Village of the Village of Ashville 2023
This is the State of the Village of Ashville for 2023. This annual review will report on 2023 but will also emphasis on how each year is interconnected with the past and how this past has created building blocks for our future.
I want to start out the 2023 Report by saying, it has been an honor to serve as Mayor since January 28, 2023. I became Mayor after the unexpected passing of Mayor Charles K. Wise. For me to be granted that opportunity to serve these last eleven (11) months is humbling.
I introduced some business practices such as weekly staff meetings, changes in office management, and more active council committees. The establishment of the Ashville Business Association is a highlight, and this group will impact planning for retail growth and events to promote Ashville and maintain our downtown area. Also, it was a privilege to participate in the Museum Dedication in honor of Charlie Morrison, the groundbreaking for the Knights of Pythias Building at the west side park, and the dedication of this council room in memory of Chuck Wise and the memorial bench outside. It has also been a pleasure to work with the current council which includes - Roger Clark, Colton Henson, Randy Loveless, David Rainey, Matt Scholl, and Steve Welsh.
